Kristina Reports gathered this on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 that the development was made known during plenary on Tuesday, when the Speaker, Tajudeen Abass read out notices of defection from the affected lawmakers on the floor of the House.

Those who defected to the NDC include Leke Abejide, Yusuf Datti, Uchenna Okonkwo, Adamu Wakili, Thaddeus Attah, George Ozodinobi, Lilian Orogbu, Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, Peter Aniekwe, Mukhtar Zakari, George Oluwande and Munachim Umezuruike.

Others are Emeka Idu, Jesse Onuakalusi, Ifeanyi Uzokwe, Afam Ogene and Abdulhakeem Ado.

Sources revealed that Senator representing Anambra Central in the National Assembly, Victor Umeh, has claimed that signs of imbalance visible within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition led to the exit of former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, from the party.

It could be recalled that Peter Obi, alongside the former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso recently dumped the ADC for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

In an interview with newsmen, Umeh asserted that there were signs Peter Obi would not emerge as the presidential candidate of the ADC.
