Students Protest Lack of Amenities, Extortion at Rivers State College of Health Science
Students of the Rivers State College of Health Science and Management Technology, Rumueme Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on Monday, May 4, 2026 protested the lack of water supply and electricity in their hostels.
The aggrieved students, who protested in front of the school gate, called on the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to intervene and rescue the situation, complaining that the institution has been denied basic amenities for several months.

Speaking to newsmen, one of the students who preferred anonymity, expressed sadness over the deplorable situation, explaining that several appeals has been made to the authorities but to no avail.
“We can even charge our phones properly; no water, we have been suffering and we’re paying fees. We want the governor to come to our rescue”
The students complained bitterly about arbitrary extortion allegedly going on in the institution, alleging that they were being compelled to pay all sorts of fees, including some they had paid for during their National Diploma programme.
The student appealed to the Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and the State Ministries of Education and Health to respond swiftly and save the situation.

Efforts by Kristina Reports to speak with management of the institution proved abortive as at the time of this report, same with the Governor’s office and the State Ministries of Health and Education.
