Okrika LG Chairman Urges Multisectoral Synergy with Government to Deliver Democratic Dividends
The Chairman of Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, Akuro Tobin, says support from the Church and other stakeholders is critical for government at all levels to be able to deliver good governance and democratic dividends.
Tobin said this on Sunday, May 3, 2026 during the 2nd Session of the 8th Synod of the Church of Nigeria (Global Anglican Communion), Diocese of Okrika, held at Bethel Church, Amadi-Ama Community in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The theme of the synod, which drew clergy, government officials and members of the congregation to the community, was “The Outpouring of the Holy Spirit” with reference to Isaiah 32:15.
Tobin, who also read the second lesson from 1 Corinthians 15:2–28 during the service, where a fundraiser for the cathedral project also took place, appealed to the Church to remain patient with the government as it sustains its efforts at delivering development continues.
He said development cannot be achieved by government alone, stressing the need for collective effort, stressing that “We cannot do it all on our own. With the support and cooperation of all stakeholders, development is achievable”.


In his remarks, the Chairman of Port Harcourt LGA, Allwell Ihunda, expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Anglican Church for invitation to the synod, noting that it was an honour to be in God’s presence.
The Chairman of Ogu/Bolo LGA, Vincent Nemieboka, who was represented by his Vice, Eunice Alabo, joined his Okrika and Port Harcourt counterparts to donate the sum of ₦15 million to support the Diocese’s Secretariat project.

Delivering the sermon at the synod, the Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, Rt. Rev. Aloysius Agbo, urged Christians to remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit and remain committed in their faith.



He stated that the Holy Spirit requires dedication to the divine agenda and should not be treated casually.
In his remarks, the Bishop of Okrika Diocese, Rt. Rev. Enoch Atuboyedia, thanked the LG Council Chairmen for their support, soliciting God’s guidance in their leadership and stride while in office.
