Kindness, Contentment Secret of Happiness – Businessman, Maxwell Akwe Says as Family, Friends Celebrate Him at 60
Seasoned entrepreneur, Maxwell Akwe says kindness and contentment remain the true secrets to happiness; this is as family and friends surprised him at his 60th birthday celebration.
He spoke to Kristina Reports on Friday, May 1, 2026 at a birthday bash in his honour at his residence in Aganya Community in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Akwe, who arrived from Port Harcourt under the impression that he was attending a crucial political stakeholders meeting, was visibly overwhelmed on discovering that the gathering was organised in his honour and has nothing to do with politics.
The apparently elated technocrat, who is a former Secretary to the Bonny Local Government, described the moment as both shocking and emotional, enthusing “I was betrayed… I feel happily betrayed,” emphasising that giving, kindness and contentment are key to a fulfilled life.
“I believe that if you’re kind, if you let kindness, contentment lead you without being judgmental; if you let kindness and contentment lead you, the sky is your limit because at that point you’ll always be happy.”
“You’re comfortable with whatever thing you have. You don’t look for those things that you don’t have. Those things that you think you don’t have are not priorities.”
He appreciated close friends and associates, some of whom, he said he had known for over five decades, who travelled from different locations to honour him without his knowledge.

Reflecting on life at 60, Akwe said he does not attach special meaning to age but believes in living each day intentionally, noting that the presence of loved ones made the day memorable, describing the turnout as overwhelming.
“Everybody should live a day as it comes. Just be happy and live that day as if it’s your last day on earth.”
Speaking on his life’s journey, Akwe, who is a former Secretary to the Bonny Local Government, attributed his experiences to destiny and divine grace, asserting that “I have been blessed beyond measure,” adding that generosity should not be dependent on wealth or abundance.
“If you cannot give one naira when you have one hundred naira, you cannot give one thousand when you have one hundred million.”
Friends and associates who attended the celebration described him as a man of humility, generosity and strong values.
One of them, a former Chairman of Bonny LGA, Edward Pepple said Akwe has consistently demonstrated a life of impact.

“Maxwell is a man who gives without looking back. He has touched many lives quietly, and today shows how much he is loved.”
Also speaking, a former Chairman of Bonny LGA, Omuso Abbey described him as dependable and principled.

“He is someone you can always rely on. His life speaks of integrity, and we are proud to celebrate him.”
On his part, Managing Director of the Rivers State Signage and Advertising Agency (RISAA), Aye Pepple said Akwe’s philosophy is one that society should embrace.

“His message of kindness and contentment is what the world needs today. He has shown that true success lies in impact, not just wealth.”
A businessman and entertainer, Bobo Pepple, said Akwe’s personality continues to unite people, hinting that “he is a joyful person and a unifier. Anywhere he is, people feel at home”.

The celebration ended with goodwill messages and tributes as family and friends honoured the businessman’s milestone birthday.
