There was widespread panic in Aba on Thursday, April 9. 2026, following a fire outbreak near the Nigerian Breweries facility along the railway axis.

However, authorities and eyewitnesses have clarified that the incident did not occur within the main company premises. The fire was confined to an external warehouse area, locally known as “Zambiza,” where empty crates and pallets are typically stored.

According to sources at the scene, the inferno began at about 3:00 p.m. and raged for approximately three hours before it was brought under control. The cause of the fire remains unknown as of the time of filing this report.

Eyewitnesses commended the swift intervention of the Abia State Fire Service, whose personnel worked tirelessly to contain the flames despite their intensity.

A resident who witnessed the incident said, “The fire was serious and spreading fast, but the fire service really tried. They responded quickly and prevented it from getting worse.”

Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident. The damage was limited to stacks of empty beer crates within the affected section.

Emergency responders have since extinguished the fire, and normalcy has returned to the area. Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the outbreak.
