Communities Key to Protecting Critical National Infrastructure – Chief Dan-Jumbo Says, Assures Support for NSCDC
A member of the Bonny Chiefs Council, Se-Alabo Clinton Ibiwari Gibson Dan-Jumbo, Jene IV says community contribution cannot be discounted in the efforts at achieving the statutory mandate of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) which is protection of critical national infrastructure.
Chief Jene IV said this on Monday, March 23, 2026 when he paid a courtesy visit on the Divisional Officer of NSCDC, Bonny Division, Mamah Sunday, a Chief Superintendent of the Corps (CSC), in his office in Bonny, Rivers State.

He noted that governance-related infrastructure as well as national economic assets require community stakeholding to ensure they are adequately protected, assuring that the people of Bonny, particularly, Jumbo House members will continue to support the agency in its efforts to achieve its mandate.
The traditional ruler observed that several governance-related infrastructure and national economic assets are domiciled in Jumbo House lands, thus making it inevitable for the chieftaincy house to support the NSCDC in protecting these assets.

He, however, also called for reciprocity from the federal, state and local governments, pointing out that Bonny Kingdom as a whole has yet to fully benefit the dividends of democracy given its agelong peaceful disposition and welcoming ambience.
Responding, the NSCDC Divisional Officer, CSC Mamah Sunday thanked Se-Alabo Dan-Jumbo for the visit, expressing his appreciation for his expressed support for the agency, particularly, his deep understanding of the intricacies of the NSCDC mandate actualisation efforts.
He stated that despite teething challenges, the NSCDC has remained resolute in its efforts at achieving its statutory mandate, appreciating, however, the welcoming hospitality and benign ambience of the Bonny people, noting that such disposition has enhanced the ease with which security agencies have discharged their responsibilities.

Se-Alabo Dan-Jumbo and CSC Sunday further engaged in strategic discussions on ways to enhance the effectiveness of collaboration between Bonny Kingdom and the NSCDC, threat analysis of the Bonny Kingdom environment, critical roles of kingdom institutions, community leadership and youth bodies serving as ongoing support systems to the security agencies.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is a paramilitary agency established in 1967, and tasked with protecting critical national infrastructure, managing disasters, and assisting in internal security.
