Rivers United approached the contest with caution, allowing Power Dynamos more of the ball while staying compact at the back. The hosts applied early pressure, but United remained composed and difficult to break down.
Goalkeeper Osagie Onisodumeya quickly became the standout performer for Rivers United.
He produced a sharp save in the 20th minute to deny Power Dynamos from close range, before following it up with another fine stop 12 minutes later.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with neither side able to take full control.
United came close in the 67th minute when Ubong Friday unleashed a powerful effort, but the Dynamos goalkeeper was equal to it.
As the match wore on, the NPFL side continued to defend with discipline, limiting the hosts to long-range efforts.

Late pressure from Power Dynamos tested United’s resolve, but Onisodumeya remained alert, making another crucial save in the 83rd minute.
Despite four minutes of added time, Rivers United held their shape and saw out the contest to secure their first clean sheet of the CAF Champions League campaign.
The result leaves both teams still searching for their first win in Group A. However, Rivers United will take confidence from their defensive performance and the character shown away from home.
