It was a controlled, confident performance that shows Nigeria’s growing momentum in the tournament.

From the opening exchanges, the Super Eagles dictated the tempo, moving the ball quickly and pinning Mozambique deep in their own half as the search for an opening goal gathered pace.

Super Eagles Break Mozambique Resistance Before Half-Time

Nigeria’s dominance finally told in the 20th minute. Akor Adams created space inside the area and pulled the ball back perfectly for Ademola Lookman, who finished with ease to give the Eagles a deserved lead. The move began with a well-timed forward pass from Alex Iwobi that split the defence open.

Mozambique barely had time to regroup before Nigeria struck again. In the 25th minute, Iwobi picked out Lookman once more with a precise long pass. The winger surged forward and squared the ball across goal, where Victor Osimhen arrived to convert and make it 2-0.

The Eagles continued to stretch the Mozambican backline, with Lookman and Osimhen constantly interchanging positions and causing problems.
