Bonny LG Chairman Holds First Security Meeting; Commends Efforts, Urges Greater Vigilance

The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Abinye Pepple has commended the security agencies for their dedication and unwavering service to the people of Bonny.

Pepple gave this commendation on Monday, September 8, 2025 during his first Security Council meeting since assuming office at the Government Lodge, Bonny, Rivers State.

In attendance at the meeting were heads of the various security agencies in Bonny LGA including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Federal Road Safety Corps, and State Security Service.

In the government team were the Secretary to the Bonny Local Government, Tamunotonye Jumbo, Chief Security Officer to the Chairman, Prince Wilcox, and Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Soparagha Jumbo.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Wisdom Chapp-Jumbo said he assured them of his administration’s continued support in ensuring a safe and peaceful local government, urging them to remain vigilant in the discharge of their duties.

“Our administration is committed to promoting peace, safety, and stability in Bonny. Therefore, synergy between security agencies is critical if we must address emerging security challenges.”

The statement said the meeting provided a platform for the Chairman and the heads of various security agencies to review the current security situation in the area, foster inter-agency collaboration, and develop proactive strategies aimed at safeguarding lives and properties within the area.
