Rivers Angels FC are set to take on table-toppers FC Robo Queens of Lagos in a vital contest on Match Week 3 encounters of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Rivers State, Port Harcourt.
Coach of Rivers Angels, Tosan Blankson, voiced his confidence in his team’s preparedness to snap up a victory against FC Robo Queens on Wednesday, January 29, 2005 by 4pm.
“Our preparations have been meticulous as usual. Both players and technical staff are primed for the challenge ahead. We’re fully prepared to take on Robo and secure a win,” Blankson said.
He also admitted that FC Robo is a tough side, currently sitting top of the table with six points. However, he reiterated his team’s resolve to secure the maximum points.
“Robo is a very tough side… We would do everything possible to overturn the table. They would give us a good fight, but we would overcome them.”
Defender Ifeoma Ikenokwalu reechoed Coach Blankson’s takes, exuding confidence in the team’s capacity to come up top.
“We are good to go. I know they would give us a good fight, but we are going to try our very best and turn the table around.”
Speaking to the fans, Ikenokwalu pleaded for their unwavering support, urging them to rally behind the team.
“We’re counting on our supporters to stand by us, both in spirit and presence. With their backing, we’re confident of securing a 2-0 victory.”
She also expressed her personal readiness to contribute to the team’s success. “I’m ready to score or assist in the match on Wednesday.”
A win for Jewels of Rivers will see them rise to the summit, while a win for the Lagos outfit will see them widden the gap with the chasing pack in Group B.
The Angels have picked up 4 points from a possible six, beating Ibom Angels FC 2-1 at home and sharing the spoils(1-1) with Naija Ratels FC in Abuja. While the Queens have gotten six points off a possible six, having won their first match of the season 5-1 away to Benue Queens of Makurdi and a 2-1 win over Adamawa Queens of Yola.
The Jewels of Rivers currently sit second in Group B, two points shy of the summit that opponents FC Robo Queens occupy.
