The New Finima Road is now open to commuters after being commissioned by the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Anengi Claude-Wilcox, who commended the NLNG for undertaking its upgrade and expansion.

Drainages are in between the kebs and storm water is channeled accordingly and busstops are only at Agaja Market

She also pointed out that the road should have been slightly expanded more than its previous status in view of the impending completion of the Bonny/Bodo Road project and its attendant beehive of vehicular traffic.

She, however, thanked the project sponsors for the intervention in the first place while applauding the contracting firm, Evomec Global Services Limited (EGSL) for delivering the job in record time.

The Bonny LGA Chairman also expressed her optimism for greater collaboration with the international oil and gas companies (IOCs) for the delivery of other corporate social responsibility (CSR) interventions in the best interest of the LGA.

He hailed the project team and other stakeholders for their respective roles in ensuring that the project was successfully implemented.

The New Finima Road was constructed to create an alternative access to Finima Community when the NLNG gas liquefaction plant was constructed years ago. However, over the years, it has become deplorable and increasingly congested as traffic increased between Bonny and Finima.

The section of the project titled “Bonny-Finima Expansion Road Project – (Package A), which was constructed by Evomec, starts from the Workers Camp Junction passes by the Agaja Market and culminates at the Finima Roundabout.

Package B of the project covers from Finima Roundabout goes all the way to Finima Community and terminates at the defunct Citibank now Coop Microfinance Bank.
