The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has declared Anengi Claude-Wilcox, Ichemati Ezebunwo, and 20 candidates of the Action Peoples Party (APP) as the winners of the local government elections in the State.
Chairman of the Commission, Retired Justice Adolphus Enebeli, who announced the results on Saturday, October 5, 2024 in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, said the APP won the chairmanship positions in 22 out of the 23 local government areas of the State.
Justice Enebeli, however, announced that the result of Etche LGA and the 319 councillorship positions will be announced in due course after the conclusion of collation.
According to him, the electoral process unfolded across the State’s 6,866 polling units and witnessed the participation of 18 political parties.
He commended the political parties and the people of Rivers State for their commitment to ensuring the success of the election.
He described the election as “smooth, safe, free, fair, credible and transparent all inclusive successful, violence free and most treasured conduct of the 2024 Rivers State Local Government Council election despite all odds”.
The APP candidates who were declared winners are Vincent Reuben Obu; Abua/Odual, Chibudom Ezu; Ahoada-East, Iyekor Ikporo; Ahoada-West, Tonye Oniyide; Akuku-Toru, Lazarus Gogonte Nteogwuile; Andoni, Sule Amachree; Asari-Toru, Anengi Barasua; Bonny, Harry Agiriye; Degema, Brain Gokpa; Eleme, and David Omereji; Emohua.
Others are Monday Dumiye; Gokana, Isreal Abosi; Ikwerre, Martins Nwigbo; Khana, Chijioke Ihunwo; Obio/Akpor, Prince Isaac Umejuru; Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni, Ishmael Oforibika; Ogu/Bolo, Igwe Achese; Okrika, Promise Reginald; Omuma, Enyiada Cookey-Gam; Opobo/Nkoro, Gift Okere; Oyigbo, Ezebunwo Ichemati; Port Harcourt, and Matthew Nenubari Dike; Tai.
