In a significant step towards promoting safety along the waterways, First Marine and Engineering Services Limited has donated 100 life vests to travelers in Bonny, Rivers State.
Project Manager of First Marine, Abimbola Olanubi said this on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, while presenting the donated life vests to the Interim Management Committee of the Bonny Marine Transport Sector at the Coal Beach in Bonny, Rivers State.
Olanubi, who was accompanied by the Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Manager, Ebikabowei Yeigagba, Construction Manager, Godfrey Bienose, and team member, Seiyefa Penawou, emphasized that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to the wellbeing of the communities it serves.
According to him, the gesture is driven by a desire to give back to the community that has been so supportive to the company’s business aspirations.
“Our motivation for this donation stems from our deep appreciation for our host community. They have been wonderful, peaceful, and loving people, and we are committed to giving back in any way we can.”
The company’s donation is part of its broader efforts to ensure safety on the waterways, which, according to him, is vital for transportation in the riverine region of the State.
The team stressed the importance of safety awareness and adherence to precautions while travelling on the waterways, noting that such measures are crucial in preventing accidents and saving lives.
