Comedian Focuses on Sobriety and Mental Health Amid Busy Career

Pete Davidson has checked into a wellness facility to address his mental health after an intense year filled with over 200 live stand-up performances. This move comes following a busy stretch that included hosting the season 49 premiere of “Saturday Night Live,” working on multiple film projects, and releasing his second Netflix special, “Turbo Fonzarelli.”

Davidson, who previously sought treatment in rehab in June 2023, has continued to prioritize his sobriety throughout his tour. PEOPLE reports that the comedian, known for his candid humor about his mental health struggles, is taking this step as part of his ongoing journey toward well-being.

“I’m fresh out of rehab, everyone,” Davidson joked during his tour with fellow comics John Mulaney and Jon Stewart. “I got that post-rehab glow. Seventh time’s the charm!”

Davidson also revealed during the tour that he had taken ketamine daily for four years. This dissociative drug is currently being trialed for its potential to treat depression. His 2023 rehab stint addressed his post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder.

Despite his personal challenges, Davidson has maintained a demanding professional schedule. He wrote and starred in the Peacock series “Bupkis,” which is loosely based on his life. Although the show was picked up for a second season, Davidson announced in March that he would not continue with it. In addition to his stand-up tour, he voiced a character in “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” played a supporting role in “Dumb Money,” and made cameo appearances in major films like “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “Fast X,” and “Good Burger 2.”

Most recently, Davidson featured in the music video for Eminem’s new single “Houdini.” His upcoming projects include the horror film “The Home,” the stoner comedy “Wizards!,” the crime comedy “Riff Raff,” and “The Pickup,” starring Eddie Murphy.

Davidson’s reps have not yet responded to requests for comment, but sources suggest that his current focus on mental health is a continuation of his efforts to maintain stability in a demanding career.
