A member of the Caretaker Committee of Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, Kendrick Christian has commended the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara for his appointment despite being a member of the Action Democratic Party (ADP).
Christian, who came out with this commendation on Thursday, June 20, 2024 in a chat with Kristina Reports in Okrika, Rivers State, described his appointment as “a call to service”.
“This is a call to service. The Governor, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Joseph Fubara has deemed it fit for us to serve as CTC members.”
He asserted that his appointment even when he is not a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a pointer to the fact that Governor Fubara’s administration in the State is an all-inclusive government, expressing his amazement at the appointment.
“I’m not a member of the ruling party, I’m of the ADP but the Governor, who had the mind to run an all-inclusive government has included a member of the opposition party, which has never been done. We have never had a Governor who looked outside politics and governance.”
Christian implored his kinsmen, the Wakirike (people of Okrika) to support the Fubara led administration in the State, especially, the CTC Chairman of Okrika LGA, Princess Ogan, assuring them that a new era of sustainable development was in the offing in the LGA.
“It’s going to be a period of development. I urge Wakirikerians to support the Chairman, Princess I.B. Ogan, who’s a key player to the development of Okrika and Rivers State by extension.”
“We know that she’s a very developmental person, she loves development. This is an opportunity for her to exhibit it in a larger scale. She’s has always supported the people of Okrika. Wakirikerians should relax and know that this is a time to enjoy the dividends of democracy.”
Also reacting to the appointment, an elderly indigene of the area, who preferred anonymity, said “it is a new dawn to wash away all stains and menace caused by the past administration”, promising that the incoming administration will garner support if they “show working”.
“The mistake leaders make is they think the people are fools. We may be quiet but we are not fools. No matter how quiet we are, we know who are the true leaders.”
“We’re ever ready to support the ones that will bear us in mind, not some people who think they are there to enrich themselves.”
“I’m very positive this administration will make a headway, and we’re happy that it’s all inclusive. We’ll stand by them, God being our helper.”
