The Bonny Legislative Assembly has unanimously voted the Councillor representing Ward 3, Bonny Local Government Area, Fiberesima Pepple, as its new Deputy Leader.
This development, which came up on Thursday, May 30, 2024, after the Assembly passed a vote of no confidence on its former Deputy Leader, Dipinye Jumbo, and subsequently impeached him.
The 9th Bonny Legislative Assembly said the former Deputy Leader was removed allegedly for what it termed “gross misconduct and sabotage to the government of the day”.
In the same vein, the 9th Bonny Legislative Assembly also voted to replace its spokesperson, Kingsley Jumbo, with Erefa Allaputa.
Erefa Allaputa and Kingsley Jumbo are the Councillors representing Wards 6 and 10 in Bonny LGA, respectively, in the Assembly.
At the sitting, which was presided over by the Leader of the 9th Bonny Legislative Assembly, Larry Ibaningo, the Assembly reaffirmed its “total support to the Executive Chairman of Bonny LGA, the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly and the Governor of Rivers State, H.E. Amaopusenibo, Sir Siminalayi Fubara”.
Efforts by Kristina Reports to reach both Councillors, Dipinye Jumbo and Kingsley Jumbo, were yet unsuccessful as they were yet to respond to messages sent to their mobile lines.
Close watchers of the development hinted Kristina Reports that the events of today may not be unconnected with the rumoured move to suspend the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly in his home, Ward 10 Bonny LGA.
