Vandalizing Public Properties, Pipelines Are Acts of Terrorism – NSCDC, Commandant Hails Online Publishers, Disposed to Partnership

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has warned against vandalizing public property oil and gas pipelines, saying that such are acts of terrorism.

This is just as the Corps indicated that it is predisposed to partnering with the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) in the discharge of its mandate to safeguard national assets.

Commandant of the NSCDC in Rivers State, Basil Igwebueze gave this warning on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 during a courtesy visit by a delegation of OMPAN Rivers State Chapter to the State Command of the Corps in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Acknowledging the importance of the virtual media in contemporary news vending and information dissemination, the NSCDC Commandant reeled out the successes recorded by the Command under his watch.

He stated that since resuming office in Rivers State, the Command has amplified its efforts in combating and curbing the activities of pipeline vandals in the State, promising to work hand in hand with OMPAN Rivers State Chapter.

He appealed to the public and OMPAN to always report, alert and inform them whenever they notice or observe the activities of these miscreants capable of throwing the state into destruction that may further lead to economic breakdown.

The Chairman of OMPAN Rivers State Chapter, Chidiebele Okoye assured the NSCDC Commandant that the group will work with him and remain professional in the discharge of its duties as a professional body.

Also speaking, OMPAN’s National Treasurer, Juachi Ochu commended the Commandant for his proactiveness in curbing the activities of pipeline vandals in the State, assured him that the group will promote objectivity in the publications of news content on the Command’s activities.
