Electricity poles destroyed by wind storm in the border communities of Oniong, Nnung Ndem, Awa Afaha and Awa (ONNA) and Mkpat Enin Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State have been replaced by the Transition Chairman of ONNA LGA, IniAbasi Ekanem.

The poles were destroyed few weeks ago at Ndon and Ibotio villages of Mkpat Enin LGA and Ikot Eko Ibon in ONNA LGA plunging the residents into darkness.

Upon receiving the information, the Transition Chairman wasted no time but acted swiftly by visiting the affected areas to assess the extent of the damage.

Speaking on the development, the Youth President of Ndon Community, Ubong Clement, lauded the efforts of the Transition Chairman towards rural development in line with the ARISE Agenda of the state government.

“This is a testament to the commitment and quality leadership of the Transition Chairman of ONNA, we are indeed grateful for his kind gesture towards us”

Corroborating Clement’s position, Youth Secretary of Ibotio Community, Kokobassy Ekemini said the restoration of the power lines was a demonstration of a culture of care by the ONNA LGA Transition Chairman for his people.

“He has shown us that he truly cares about the well-being of not just ONNA people alone but his neighbors, we are grateful for his swift response in restoring the power line to our community.”

The restoration of the power line is more than just a practical solution to the needs of the people, it is a great sign of magnanimity from Iniabasi Ekanem to the people of not just Ikot Eko Ibon in ONNA Local Government but Ndon and Ibotio Villages of Mkpat Enin Local Government, and deserves the commendations of every right thinking individual.
