South West Governors to meet on regional insecurity

Sequel to the disturbing criminal activities over the past few weeks in the region, the six South West Governors will converge at the ancient town in Ibadan, Oyo State capital to strategize ways in addressing the isecurity challenges mounting in the region.

This move came in following the statement issued by the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYC) stating that it will join forces with stakeholders from the South West to dislodge suspected criminals under the disguise of Fulani Herdsmen in the region.

Governors Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) are expected at the meeting.

Kristina Reports learnt that the Convener of the meeting and Chairman of the South West Governors Forum, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu promised that the outcome of the meeting will stamp out the criminal activities going on in the region.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Akeredolu, Segun Ajiboye said: “You know we have held a security summit here in Ondo State and our governor is tnow aking the initiative to other states in the region.

“Governors of the six states at the meeting will find solutions to the menace. “I want to assure the people of the region that an end is in sight to the spate of insecurity in the South West.

“There will be a solution to these problems after the summit”.
