Chairman of the Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC), Aladiokuma Hart has advised students to maximize opportunities to serve selflessly and pursue causes that add value to human lives without seeking rewards.
Hart gave this advice when a delegation of the National Union of Izon-Ibe Students led by their National President, Victor Jumbo paid him a courtesy visit and also conferred an Award of Excellence on him.
He explained that there was the need for students, in particular, and other members of the society, in general, to “be selfless in serving the people or pursuing worthy causes, saying that in due time, God rewards”.
The BIRC Chairman encouraged them to be serious with their educational pursuit and ensure they make the Ijaw people proud by coming out with good results.
Aladiokuma Hart was, during his student days, a onetime Zonal and later National Secretary of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC). He was later elected Chairman of the Finima Youth Congress (FYC), after which he was appointed Chairman of the Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC).
He, however, admonished them to shun any form of cultism and put God first in all they do.
He assured that the BIRC, under his leadership, will continue to prioritize industrial training (IT) placements for students of Ijaw origin.
“Concerning the issue of I.T. placement, we have always been doing our best in making sure our people who are due for I.T. are placed accordingly”.
He expressed gratitude to the Izon-Ibe Students’ President and his delegation for considering worthy of being presented with the award.
“I am most grateful to God for a day like this. The joy of awards comes when you are not expecting it and it comes, it shows and confirms God’s word which talks about doing something in the secret and gets rewarded in the open. I must say I am grateful”.
Presenting the award to the BIRC Chairman, the National President of the Izon-Ibe Students, Victor Jumbo said the union came up with the decision to honour him after an assessment of his contributions to the betterment of society, human capital development, youth empowerment, and his commitment to the emancipation of the Ijaw nation.
“The union has assessed your contributions ranging from enhancement of education, human capacity development, youth empowerment, and, most of them all, your dedication and commitment to the emancipation of the Ijaw Nation.
“Sir, this is to appreciate you and to encourage you to do more as we have no doubt whatsoever that you will deliver”.
The President appealed to the BIRC Chairman to use his “good office to ensure that our people who are due for their I.T. are given good I.T. placements.”
