Nigeria’s sole representative in the continent, Rivers United has been made to migrate its home games away from the Adokie Amasiamaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

This decision comes after recent updates from the Confederation of Africa Football revealed that the Port Harcourt Stadium did not receive approval for hosting CAF competitions.

The approved venue for Rivers United’s home games will now be the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

The 30,000-capacity stadium would not be an unfamiliar turf for the Pride of Rivers, as it served as the venue of home matches during the previous season of the competitions.

A season where they reached the quarter-final. Rivers United would look to replicate that feat and even extend it this season.

Rivers United booked a spot in the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup after a convincing 2-0 aggregate victory over Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso.

They will face Club Africain of Tunisia, Dream FC of Ghana, and APC Lobito of Angola in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
