Akwa Ibom State Governor Advocates Synergy Among Traditional Rulers for National Cohesion

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno has harped on the need for traditional rulers in the country to liaise with themselves and create bonds that will foster national unity as well as create a conducive environment for social and economic growth in the country.

The Governor made this appeal when he played host to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, CFR, when he visited him at the Government House in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The Governor expressed the happiness of the Akwa Ibom people to be able to host the Emir and prayed that the visit would strengthen the ties between both states as well as be the beginning of new things in terms of trade and commerce as well as encourage cultural ties between both traditional institutions.

“Your Highness, your visit is rare and royal and we don’t take it for granted. On behalf of the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State, I thank you for honoring us with your esteemed presence here in our Exco Chamber and our state.”

“I pray that this visit will continue to cement the relationship among the states and all of our brothers from the Arewa Community, particularly, at the traditional level. I pray this should be a strong bridge that our traditional rulers can also explore and do business in the ancient city of Kano.”

Umo Eno expressed appreciation to the Hausa residents in the state for the support he received from them during the election, reassuring them of his commitment to appoint aides from among them in order to secure a connection between the communities of non-indigenes and the government, emphasizing that this would be the beginning of the building of a new Nigeria.

The Governor assured the Hausa community in of security and a serene environment to conduct their business and live happily but pleaded with them to follow the rules and norms of the community the live in to ensure peace and harmony.

“I assure you that we will continue together in harmony with all Nigerians who are here to do business in Akwa Ibom. All we ask is that they just follow the simple culture of the people, respect the culture and laws of the land and they are guaranteed safety at any time.”

In response, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, CFR, Emir of Kano congratulated the Governor on his success in the elections and trumpeted his excellent leadership achievements which are evident in the state.

Describing his visit as fulfilling, he stated that this was his first visit to the state and was optimistic that his visit was the start of a beautiful and productive relationship between Akwa Ibom State and Kano State.
