As a step towards the actualization of the success of the ARISE agenda instituted by his administration, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno has donated the sum of N250 million to 400 entrepreneurs in the State.

The business support fund was channeled through the Ibom Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development Center (Ibom LED) to cover the training fees and start-up capital for the beneficiary entrepreneurs.

Umo Eno made this known at the flag-off of the Made in Akwa Ibom Trade Fair at the Ibom LED headquarters at IBB Avenue, Uyo on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

The flag-off was one of the activities to mark the 36th anniversary of the creation of the State.

The Governor, in his speech, expressed happiness and excitement at the talents of the entrepreneurs and encouraged them to be proud of their craft and showcase the same at the trade fair.

He explained that N50 million would serve as fees at the institution and at the end of their learning period, each trainee would be given N500,000 as a start-up grant to enable them find their footing in their various markets.

“…fifty million is for the school so that it can serve as their training fees. So let it be that I have paid that.”

“Train them and help them look for a market too. When you finish training them, each of them shall have five hundred thousand naira.”

Umo Eno reiterated that his administration has burdened itself with ensuring the growth and progress of small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) which is why he is currently trying to provide an enabling environment to guarantee the success of these businesses.

The State Commissioner for Economic Development appreciated the governor for staying true to his promise and providing the assistance necessary to ensure the growth and success of businesses in the State.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Ibom-LED Center, Imo-Abasi Jacob applauded the Governor for his benevolence and promised to ensure that the dreams of the governor for the training center and the trainees are realized.
