NAF Helicopter crash-lands at Umaru Musa  Yar’ adua Int’l Airport, Katsina

A Nigerian Air Force fighter helicopter crash-landed yesterday at the domestic wing at the Yar’ adua International Airport located off Daura-Katsina Road, Katsina State.
Kristina Reports learnt that the crashed helicopter was arriving from an operation named , “Hadaran Daji” in the North West used for anti-banditry missions.
According to NAF, the crash occurred at 3:30pm with an unclear details the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The Air Force also disclosed that were no loss of life.
In a release, Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Marshal Ibikunle Daramola, said, “A NAF helicopter has crashed in the process of landing while returning from an anti-banditry combat mission in the North-West Theatre under Operation Hadaran Daji. Details of the incident, which occurred at the Katsina Airport, are still scanty. However, there was no loss of life, either of persons on board the helicopter or on the ground.
“The Chief of the Air Staff has immediately directed the constitution of a Board of Inquiry to determine the exact cause of the incident. The NAF continues to solicit the understanding and support of the general public as it daily strives to ensure the security of Nigeria and Nigerians.”
Kristina Reports Correspondent was told that the crashed helicopter is one of the eight fighter helicopters deployed to the North West to combat the bandits, also adding that two Mi-35M fighter helicopters and Augusta 109 platforms are in the fleet of the Air Force.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar has ordered a Board of Inquiry to be set up to investigate the cause of the incident
