The Dr Obinna Anyanwu led administration in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State is determined to change the economic narrative of the area and make the living conditions of the people better, Vice Chairman of the LGA, Gladys Nweke has said.
Nweke said this on Sunday, May 21, 2023 in an online chat with Kristina Reports.
She stated that Dr Anyanwu was poised on making Etche LGA conducive for residents and business activities to thrive, pointing out that the recent killing of two suspected kidnap kingpins terrorizing the Igbo Etche axis by operatives of the Nigeria Police speaks to efforts of the administration to stamp out crime and criminality.
“Yes, Hon. Dr Obinna Anyanwu has tried his best in curbing of criminality. The Chairman has done a lot of things to fight the criminality in Etche by all means.”
“In fact, I always imagine how he does his things because he is always in meetings with security agents, traditional rulers and others. He is very concerned to see how Etche can be better throughout his administration in our LGA.”
On the economic outlook of the current administration in the area, the Etche LGA Vice Chairman disclosed that her boss was amplifying the drive to empower youths of the area by placing those currently unemployed on monthly stipends while working on creating more jobs.
“Yes, as I’m talking to you, Chairman is paying thousands of Etche youth monthly and he’s planning for more empowerment before he leaves office.”
Etche LGA parades an intimidating economic credential such as vast arable land, lots of mineral resources and a thriving youth population with potentials to drive up economic growth through agriculture, transportation, commerce and lots more.
Close watchers are of the opinion that with the renewed verve to rid the area of criminal activities and mainstream economic activities by emplacing a favourable atmosphere for businesses to thrive, Etche LGA may be on its way out of economic doldrums.
