Kelechi Iheanacho is probable for Leicester City’s trip to Newcastle on Monday night at St. James’s Park.
The Nigerian has missed the last three games after sustaining a groin injury in the 1-1 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road last month, an injury which hinted at ruling him out for the remainder of the season but the striker is back in training.
“Kelechi was in training today and he’ll be in full training on Saturday morning,” Dean Smith, Leicester City Manager said while speaking to the media on Thursday ahead of his side’s clash against Newcastle
“Kels has ticked all the boxes he’d need to. We’ve probably had to press the fast-forward button, but it’s needs must at the moment.”
Before his injury against Leeds, Iheanacho had found the back of the net twice in two games, one of the goals coming in the win against Wolves. Dean Smith can only hope that his presence back in the team boosts their chances of redemption.
Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi’s spell in the Premier League hangs in the balance as Leicester City sit in the drop zone (19th) following their poor run of games, getting eight wins, and managing six draws and 22 losses.
The East Midlands side has racked up only 30 points out of a possible 108, winning just one game in their last 14.
The Foxes would face the Magpies away at St. James’s Park on the 22nd of May and would welcome the Hammers on the 28th.
This is impressive, Annabelle.
