King of Maths: Nelson’s UTME Performance Justifies Our Position on Him – G30 Ibani Voice

The G30 Ibani Voice says the performance of the immediate past winner of its King/Queen of Mathematics Contest, Nelson Bluejack in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has justified its verdict on him.

President of the group, Dr Fubara Dan-Jumbo said this in a telephone chat with Kristina Reports at the weekend, noted that “it is comforting to see that our investment in Education, especially, Mathematics is not misplaced after all. It is obvious that we’re getting it right”.

“We set out to lay a foundation for the future, to create a sustainable future for inner city and rural school children in Bonny LGA and soon to expand beyond that horizon. We’re gratified that this deliberate investment in Education is paying so early.”

The King/Queen of Mathematics Contest is an annual competition among secondary schools in Bonny LGA. It has different stages from which winners emerge and progress to higher stages with a winner emerging at the junior and senior categories and two runners-up in each category.

Nelson Bluejack, who scored 333 in the 2023 UTME computer based test (CBT) and 98 in Mathematics, is the third winner of the contest and King of Mathematics for the 2022/2023 academic session.

He handed over to the current Queen of Mathematics, Ivan Jumbo, on Monday, April 10, 2023. She will hold the title for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The G30 Ibani Voice President stated that Bluejack’s performance serves as veritable motivation to continue to invest in Education, disclosing that key modifications to improve on the deliverables of the contest will be introduced this year.

He expressed appreciation to stakeholders comprising officials of the State Ministry of Education, directors, supervisors, principals and teacher in the various secondary schools in Bonny LGA for their invaluable contributions to making the competition worth the while.

“Let me also thank our stakeholders for their efforts and invaluable inputs in sustaining this contest and making it beneficial to young people in Bonny LGA. We couldn’t have done this all by ourselves without their contributions.”
