A rural electrification project and an ultra-modern market in Okochiri and Ibaka, both in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State executed by the Akuro Tobin administration in the area are set for commissioning.

According to a Facebooker, Igbikikuno Friday, both projects were executed by the Tobin led administration as a demonstration of his “undiluted commitment to connect communities in Okochiri Kingdom to the national grid,” saying that “it is worthy of commendation”.

“We appreciate you, our Council Boss, for this laudable project. We believe in your capacity and magnanimity as you continue to consolidate and provide quality social amenities to the good people of Okrika LGA.”

Okochiri is the hometown of the Sekuro of Niger Delta and Amanyanabo of Okochiri, His Royal Majesty, King Ateke Tom.   

The Okochiri rural electrification project will be commissioned on Thursday, April 20, 2023 along Messiah Road, Amangi-Ama by the member representing Okrika Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Amaopuerembo Linda Somiari Stewart, while the Okrika Ultra-Modern Market Complex at Ibaka Town will be commissioned on Friday, April 21, 2023.  

Friday expressed optimism that “the market will serve as business hub to positively impact the local economy and boost small and medium scale businesses in the area”.

Meanwhile, the Leader of the Okrika Legislative Assembly, Paul Abam has given a pass mark to the Okrika LGA Chairman and expressed satisfaction over the quality of the projects set for commissioning on Thursday.

A statement by the Press Unit of the Assembly stated that Abam gave this endorsement on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, shortly after inspecting the projects to be commissioned accompanied by his colleagues in the Assembly, saying that it keys into the developmental aspirations of the Okrika people.

“Ahead of the formal commissioning of the Okochiri internal rural electrification project and Okrika Ultra-Modern Market located at Ibaka Town built by the Executive Chairman Of Okrika Local Government Area, Hon. Akuro Tobin, the Leader and distinguished Honourable Members of the 7^th Okrika Legislative Assembly today, 18th April 2023 toured the aforementioned projects for inspection.”

“Shortly after the inspection, the Leader, Hon. Paul G. Abam, expressed satisfaction and confidence in the ability of the digital Council Boss, Hon. Akuro Tobin to deliver more robust infrastructural and human capacity development to the good people of Okrika LGA.”
