Nigerian Twitter Community woke to a stunning viral photo of a young boy standing with wide open arms in front of Peter Obi’s convoy in Lagos on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
With many wondering who the boy was, it has now been revealed that Yusuf Alabi is an Ibadan born Lagos resident of the Islamic faith who wants the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi as his next president.
Speaking at the rally organized by the Labour Party at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island, and also to some social media netizens, Alabi said he did it out of massive love he has for Obi.
He lamented that he is not yet 18 years old to be able to vote for his preferred presidential candidate but said “my parents and my uncles and aunts said he is a good man”.
“I stood in front of Peter Obi’s convoy because I wish I am up to 18 years old so that I can vote for him. But since I cannot vote for him, I came to the front of his car to pray for him so that he will win the election.”
In the picture that has went viral within an hour across social media platforms, Yusuf Alabi is seen stretching his arms out wide in front of a Toyota Prado SUV, with Obi standing through the open roof of the car, smiling at the teenager.
Alabi further informed that when Obi wins the elections, he would also pray for him to perform well and make Nigeria great.
Obi was accompanied by his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, as well as the leader of the Pan Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, among others.
He had earlier embarked on a road walk through the Alaba International Market in Lagos before heading to TBS for the rally, which was part of his campaign trail across the 36 states of the federation.
