There was some unrest in the township area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, following a clash between members of a cult group popularly known as ‘Abuja Ghetto Boys’, and some members of the Northern Community.
The incident, which happened around Aggrey Road, Creek Road, Bonny Street, Niger Street, Bende Street, and Victoria Street, all in the township area of Port Harcourt on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
A situational report from an eyewitness, who spoke to Kristina Reports anonymously, said “The cause of the clash is because of two Hausa boys and another Hausa boy who is a cultist were dragging a girlfriend”.
“This is what led to the fight, we are not sure of how many people that died but almost immediately Army men came to the scene and restored calm.”
Responding to an enquiry by Kristina Reports, Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said the “Rivers State Police Command has dismissed reports of casualties in the clash between members of Hausa Community and some area boys within the Nembe Jetty in Creek Road at Port Harcourt Township”.
“Contrary to reports that two people were reported dead in the clash, no life was lost but normalcy have been restored in the area. People are going about their business and investigation is ongoing to ascertain the remote cause of the clash.”
She assured that the Commissioner of Police, Okon Effiong has deployed men and set up investigative team to ascertain the remote cause of the clash.
