APC Crisis: Oshiomhole Embarrassed At Eagle Square

An indication that all was not well in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) manifested today as its National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole was given a rough shoulder few minutes ago as President Muhammadu Buhari arrived the venue of the inauguration.

Just two days ago, the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Lawal Shuaibu demanded that Oshiomhole resign his position in the party due to alleged incompetence and underperformance.

Trouble started for the embattled APC National Chairman minutes before the President arrived when an Army officer approached him and told him to move from where he was standing close to the acting Chief Judge of Nigeria, Ibrahim Muhammad, to another position down the line after the service chiefs.

The next embarrassment occurred shortly after the President arrived the Eagle Square.

He was asked to vacate his initial seat close to the President and Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and move to another seat far off from the President but ensconced between the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu.

Signs that all was not well manifested when President Buhari disembarked from his official car and moved to shake hands with the Vice President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and the service chiefs.

On getting to the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, the President shook hands with him while looking away in a different direction unlike he did with the government officials whom he looked in the eyes while shaking hands with them.

The latest trouble for Oshiomhole was the loss of the First Lady’s State, Zamfara, to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Supreme Court days ago.

This latest development which effectively put 17 States, which represents more than half of the 36 States in the hands of the PDP, irked not a few party faithful, who have started clamouring for his ouster.

Adams Oshiomhole, a former Governor of Edo State, succeeded his kinsman, John Oyegun, who was also a former Governor of Edo State, as party chairman with 23 States in the hand of the APC. But that has changed now.

As events unfold, Nigerians await with bated breath what becomes of him as President Buhari begins his second term in office.
