A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has restrained a former Executive Director of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Jonathan Tobin, from parading himself as Chairman of the Tobin (Konibo-ye-Awanta) House of Finima in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The court equally restrained the immediate past Chairman of the House, Amasenibo Dagogo Tobin from acting in his capacity as Chief-Elect of the House.

Hon. Justice Sika Henry Aprioku of High Court 9 in the Rivers State Judiciary had issued an injunction in Suit No. PHC/766/CS/2022 on Thursday, July 28, 2022 in Port Harcourt restraining both men from acting as officials of the Tobin House until the determination of the motion on notice.

“IT IS HEREBY ORDERED AS FOLLOWS: That in the interim, an Order be and is hereby granted, restraining both the Claimant and 1^st Defendant, Dagogo Tobin from directly or indirectly claiming, asserting, conducting, holding out, presenting, parading and purporting by themselves in any way or manner or perform, function or act as Chief-elect, Chief or Chairman of Tobin Chieftaincy House of Finima in Bonny Kingdom in Rivers State, whether before Tobin House Elders, Council of Bonny Chiefs, Companies, Traditional or Government and public authorities, pending the determination of the Motion on Notice filed on 18/07/2022.”

The claimant in the suit is a former Executive Director of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Jonathan Tobin, while the defendants are Amasenibo Dagogo Tobin, Bonny Local Government Council, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU), Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas Limited (NLNG), Department of State Security (DSS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Commander, Joint Task Force (JTF), Bonny.

Recall that the ex-CBN buff, Jonathan Tobin had dragged the then Chairman of the Tobin House, Amasenibo Dagogo Tobin, to court, asking the court to compel the latter and his siblings to undergo a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test to ascertain their paternity.

Also recall that Jonathan Tobin, in a viral message on different WhatsApp groups, had earlier accused Dagogo Tobin of not being a child of his father, a statement viewed by many to be an accusation of infidelity on the latter’s mother.

In that same message, he claimed to be the Chairman of Tobin House consequent upon his recognition as an Amaopusenibo of Bonny Kingdom. A title that knowledgeable sources informed Kristina Reports has no nexus with the leadership of a chieftaincy house in Bonny Kingdom.
