As aspirants for various positions on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) continue to purchase their nomination forms ahead of the party’s forthcoming primaries, a chieftain of the party in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, Onimi Kabaka Brown has assured that every possible resource would be deployed to ensure the party’s candidates win in the 2023 general elections.
Brown, who gave this assurance in a telephone chat with Kristina Reports on Friday, May 6, 2022 in Bonny, Rivers State, said with the emplacement of internal democracy in the APC at all levels leading to the emergence of consensus candidates, especially in Bonny LGA, “everything will be done to ensure they win”.
“What we demanded for was internal democracy, consultations, justice, fair play and respect for each other. I am happy we have resolved all our differences and we’re now on the same page, I and our party leader in Bonny LGA, Hon. George Tolofari. We remain loyal to his leadership and will surely work with him to deliver our candidates.”
“Our brother, Fubara Hart, and sister, Dabota (Jumbo), have been emerged through a proper consultative process and entrenchment of internal democracy, we’re happy with that. I did say that it should not necessarily be myself but the right thing should be done, and I pledged to support whoever emerges.”
He called on other stakeholders and party faithful to converge on the support for the consensus candidates and mass up every resource at their disposal to ensure the party wins, stressing that “this is the time to get Bonny out of the woods that the PDP has put it in the past years with nothing to show”.
“I am calling on our party stakeholders and faithful to sheathe their swords and come together. We now have what we fought for, which is respect for each and a transparent process. It is now time to work together with the leadership to deliver the party and rescue Bonny LGA from the quagmire that the PDP has subjected it to all these years.”
“We all know that the PDP has nothing to offer and we have seen this happen before our eyes but the APC has not provided an alternative. So, we need to rise up now and get to work and rescue our people from this ugly situation. There has been no development, no empowerment, nothing positive; and despair pervades the land.”
Recall that the leader of the APC in Bonny LGA, George Tolofari, who is a former Commissioner for Transport in the State, had announced last month that Kingsley Fubara Hart and Dabota Godswill Jumbo have been accorded the right of first refusal and have now emerged as the party’s consensus candidates for the Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Bonny Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, respectively.
When asked about the funds recently raised by his friends to support his ambition to contest the Bonny Constituency seat in the State House of Assembly, the APC chieftain informed that “all the monies received from friends and well-wishers will be channeled into making sure all our party’s candidates win their various elections in Bonny LGA and Rivers State”.
“We’re intentional here and it’s not about Onimi Kabaka Brown, it’s about the APC; so, we shall utilize every fund received to push our candidates to ensure their victory at the polls come February 25 and March 11, 2023. We are sure of victory, we will win the PDP landslide.”
