He informed that seven out of the ten statutory elders representing seven of the Burusu (sub-houses) participated in the process, explaining that the remaining Burusu were yet to have representatives in the Council and as such were not part of the process.

He further informed that the principal members of the Council were also not part of the process in line with the customs and tradition of the House, which requires only the statutory elders or Burusu heads to participate in the voting system.

“We have ten stools representing the ten Burusu in Tobin (Konibo-ye-Awanta) House namely The Burusu are Fubara, Orugbani, Sukuiyi, James, Sunday, Jonathan, Mark, Atapirigha, Owunabo and Young Burusu. The stools of Mark, Sukuiyi and Orugbani are currently vacant, so, they did not participate in the process.”

“The remaining seven Burusu participated in the process, namely the Fubara Burusu, James Burusu, Sunday Burusu, Jonathan Burusu, Adapirigha Burusu, Young Burusu, and Owunabo Burusu. These seven Burusu have their representatives in the Opuwari.”

Tobin stated that three of the contestants stepped down at the last moment for Dagogo Tobin to emerge unopposed, noting that nevertheless, his emergence was still put to the vote as the individual representatives of their various stools were still asked to cast their votes verbally as to whether the sole candidate should be endorsed or not.

He asserted that all seven elders voted in affirmation, including the head of Young Burusu, who joined virtually as he could not travel down from the United States where he is currently based.

He also disclosed the process had both internal and external observers.

According to him, an external observer, Amasenibo Israel Waribo Pepple, a member of the Fubara Manilla Pepple Chieftaincy House; and internal observers comprising the Tobin House Youth Leader, Asawo Chairman, Women Leader, and Leader of Maidens of the House overwatched the process, and confirmed it as consistent with the customs and tradition of the House and Bonny Kingdom.

He thanked the elders, principal members, and other stakeholders of the House for their support and patience in seeing the process successfully sublimated, expressing the hope that this would represent a new dawn of limitless possibilities for the growth and development of the House.
