Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri Rewards Olympic Silver Medalist

Nigeria’s Olympic wrestling silver medalist, Blessing Oborududu has now joined the league of millionaires in Nigeria after Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri splashed the champion with some millions of naira for bringing glory to not just Nigeria but Bayelsa State, in particular.

Blessing Oborududu who was rewarded with $10,000, is currently the world number two female wrestler and also the first wrestler to ever win an Olympic medal, representing Nigeria at the just concluded Tokyo Olympics.

The four million naira equivalent token was personally handed down Oborududu by Douye Diri at a low key event at Bayelsa State Government House, Yenagoa, on Monday, August 16, 2021.

The Governor according to a social media update by BBC’s Oluwashina Okelegi explained that “In recognition of this historic feat and giant stride, your government has decided to reward you (Blessing Oborududu) with the sum of four million naira.”
