The 3rd edition of the Youth Festival of Life came to a blazing climax today with Lucille Education Centre, Bonny clinching the overall prize of N100,000, trailed by Bonny National Grammar School (UBE), Bonny and Community Secondary School (UBE), Abalamabie.
Lucille Education Centre also topped the league in the Arts and Craft category where they beat Bonny National Grammar School (Senior) and Spring Foundation College, first and second runner-ups, to emerge winners. They also showed class in the Spoken Word category dusting Government Girls Secondary School (UBE), Finima, and Community Secondary School, Abalamabie (Senior), which came up second and third in that category.
Government Girls Secondary School (UBE), Finima, however, thumped Bonny National Grammar School (UBE), Bonny, and Save the Child Foundation School, Finima, to emerge winners in the Drama category.
In the Choral presentation category, legendary vocal champions, Logos International School, Bonny, won hearts during their performance and eventually won the category with Government Girls Secondary School (Senior), Finima, and Bonny National Grammar School (UBE), Bonny trailing behind.
Bonny National Grammar School (UBE), Bonny, however, showed strength in the Science exhibition and trounced others to emerge winners of the category followed by both senior and junior sections of Community Secondary School, Abalamabie, which came up second and third positions.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Anengi Barasua praised the organizers for a successful festival, calling on corporate bodies to key into the vision of youth development through creativity and innovation.
She pledged the support of the Local Government Council to ensure that the programme is sustained and continues to positively impact the lives of young people and provide them with opportunities to express their innate potentials.
Also speaking at the event, Secretary of the Bonny Youth Federation (BYF), Boma Brown said the world was waiting on the youths to bring their innovation and creativity to impact development and curb social vices. He reiterated the continued partnership of the BYF in ensuring the success and sustainability of the festival.
Executive Director of the Youth Resource Centre, Bonny, Excel Ukpohor extolled the commitment of the youths demonstrated by their participation, urging them not to relent in exploring creative and innovative ways to pursuing their future aspirations, noting that the future was theirs to take.
For the exhibitions, the Judges, Adata Bristol, Ijeoma Ukandu, Godswill Jumbo, and Rossphilips Irims, among others went round accompanied by the Bonny LG Vice Chairman, Anengi Barasua, Chief Abel Attoni, among others around the arts and science exhibitions.
Over a thousand youths from various schools across Bonny LGA participated in the two day event which featured choral, cultural and drama presentations, arts and science exhibitions, among others.
