Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt has suspended indefinitely three male students of the institution for their roles in the gang of their female colleague.
The management of the institution, which took this decision on Friday, October 16, 2020, named the three male students as Nnamdi Destiny with matriculation number: UE/2018/Pol.Sc./B.Sc/0062, Ovunwo J. Henry, and Samuel Valentine, matriculation number: UE/2017/Pol.Sc/B.Ed 4/0259.
Samuel Valentine is a 300 level undergraduate studying Political Science, same with Nnamdi Destiny while Ovunwo Henry who is studying Sociology, all three in Social Science Faculty of the university.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele disclosed to Kristina Reports that two of the students have been arrested and handed over to the Police, while the third was on the run.
He also informed that the matter has also been referred to the Students Disciplinary Committee to decide their fate while the room where the crime was committed has been sealed off and all occupants driven out of the hostel.
The Registrar of the University has been directed to issue a memo banning inter-sex visits at any time of the day. Any student found guilty of visiting the opposite sex in the hostel, no matter the time of the day, puts himself/herself and the occupants of such a room at high risk.
