A critical analysis of the situation indicates that Bonny Island is currently in a state of “the unknown” as four prominent sons of the land have spent the fourth night in the hands of yet-to-identified masked gunmen, who snatched them at a funeral at Banigo Isile-Ogono on Saturday, September 12, 2020.
In a chat with Kristina Reports, Stanley Allison, son to one of the abductee, Thompson Micah Allison, said “There was a burial yesterday (Saturday) at Banigo community, which they went for. I was not there, I can’t talk like an eye witness. I later went there.
Allison, who said he works with the Bonny Local Government Council, narrated how he only got to know of his father’s abduction after evacuating his boss, noting that his boss (LG Chairman) tried to calm him down upon learning of the ugly development.
“I worked with the Chairman as a Council staff in Bonny Local Government. We went there based on a call we received to get the Chairman back, I never knew that my father was also involved. Though, we heard one or two information that something happened down there, we tried to arrest the situation.”
“When we got to the beach, they complained about fuel and I still did not know that my dad was involved. It was when we got there that the Chairman was telling me to calm down.”
He pointed out that given the growing concerns about security in the area, the call by the lawmaker representing Bonny Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Abinye Pepple for a security summit has become inevitable.
“Honestly, these security issues have become a source of concern. Bonny people need to come together to talk about it”.
