In commemoration of the 55th Birthday Anniversary of the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of ancient Grand Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, Perekule XI, the Chairman of the Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC), Dagogo Jumbo today doled out palliatives to the elderly in Bonny LGA.
Jumbo, who was accompanied by his friends and staff on the palliative drive, said the initiatives was predicated on his decision to identify with the hallmark of the celebrant, which was compassion, empathy and love for all.
He further stated that it was a way of felicitating “with His Majesty, the King, on the auspicious occasion of his 55th birthday anniversary, June 11th, 2020,” stressing that he was “joining the entire Bonny Kingdom, friends and associates all over the world, to celebrate the milestone of our dear Father, a kind teacher, His Majesty, the King”.
He described the 20 year reign of His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, Perekule XI, Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of ancient Grand Bonny Kingdom, as “laced with great and memorable achievements’.
The BIRC Chairman, who is better identified among his kinsmen by the sobriquet, ‘Opumingi’ or ‘High Tide’, explained that he chose to mark the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s birthday by sharing palliatives to the homes of the elderly.
The series of visits took him and his entourage to the home of the Emeritus Bishop of the Niger Delta Diocese of the Anglican Communion, His Lordship, Retired Bishop Gabriel Pepple, where they donated some palliatives to him, which included foodstuffs and other items.
The revered cleric used the occasion to pray and rededicate the life and family of the King unto God, and also blessed and consecrated the food items and other palliatives to be shared to the elderly.
He further prayed that God should strengthen the celebrant and give him wisdom all through his reign, while also blessing the BIRC Chairman and reward him for deeming it necessary to use the occasion of the King’s birthday to celebrate with the elderly.
He later met with a group of elderly women drawn from various communities, groups and churches at the home of the Vice Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Anengi Barasua, and also doled out some palliatives to them.
Barasua, alongside the women rejoiced with the King on the opportune epoch of his 55th birthday, praying and wishing him more blissful years ahead on the throne.
The Bonny LGA Vice Chairperson, in her remarks, thanked the BIRC Chairman for the initiative, saying that the entire Kingdom was watching his assiduous efforts at achieving the mandate given to him by His Majesty, the King and the LGA Chairman, David Irimagha, which was to utilise every opportunity available to him to further uniting the entire Bonny people.
She added that the well-respected Bonny Monarch will be proud that he made the right choice of choosing to nominate him to man the office of Chairman of the BIRC.
The BIRC Chairman, Dagogo Jumbo and his entourage later met the Woman Leader of Bonny Kingdom, Amaopu-Orubo Helen Pepple, and members of the Bonny Women Forum and some elderly women drawn from the 35 chieftaincy houses of Bonny Kingdom at the Women’s Hall, Bonny, where their own share of the palliatives were also disbursed to them.
Responding, the Woman Leader of Bonny Kingdom expressed gratitude to ‘Opumimgi’ for his magnanimity, especially, during this trying times when the community was burdened with the spectre of COVID-19.
Amaopu-Orubo Pepple, alongside the women prayed for His Majesty, the King that the Almighty God would avail him the wisdom, grace and courage needed to guide the Kingdom in the direction of progress and development, urging the BIRC Chairman to keep up the good work he was doing at the centre.
The BIRC Chairman later met with various other groups as continued the journey of distributing palliatives to the elderly and less privileged.
