The victory of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in the just concluded gubernatorial election in the State has been described as a demonstration of God’s love for the state.
Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, David Irimagha stated this shortly after Wike was returned re-elected for a second term in office by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The electoral process in the state was suspended by the electoral umpire due to widespread violence which affected the smooth conduct of the polls. INEC later concluded the process by collating and announcing the results of the election.
Wike, who was the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 886,264 votes to defeat his closest rival, Awara Biokpomabo of the African Action Congress (AAC) who polled 173,859 votes.
An elated Irimagha explained that “God Almighty does not want this great State to descend into anarchy and confusion that is why He gave the victory to a man who loves Rivers State from the bottom of his heart, a man who wants the good and progress of the State.”
“Look at all that happened, if it were in order places there would have been a breakdown of law and order but God who loves our State ensured that the machinations of the enemies of the State did not come to pass.
He assured the people of Rivers State and other Nigerians that Wike’s second term would be much more progressive and beneficial to the people as there would be massive development and empowerment of the people.
The Bonny LGA boss urged Rivers people to continue to support the Governor to help him actualize his vision for the State.
