It is 18 days to one of the most prestigious and anticipated sporting events in Nigeria: The Bonny Marathon. The Bonny Island Marathon is returning for the sixth edition and it promises to be a truckload of fun.

The event which started in 2018 has become a beacon of athletic distinction, community engagement, and transnational recognition will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, in Bonny Island.

The previous edition saw participants from around the world partake in the Marathon.

Registration for the marathon is still free and ongoing until Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Organizers of the Marathon have disclosed that they are already gearing up for the 10th edition.

The 2023 edition’s theme is Break Free and the goal is to motivate, empower, and break down barriers.

The Bonny Marathon holds up NGN 3,000,0000 worth of prizes and the edition has seen an expansion in cash prizes from the top three to the top 10 positions, encompassing both male and female in the Elite Categories.

The marathon offers various race categories including 15KM ( Elites), 10KM (Leisure) 5KM (Teen Run), and a category for participants with special needs.

Project Lead of the Bonny Island Marathon, Boma Halliday, voiced the importance of inclusivity and getting all runners across different categories to get something out of the event.
