In his bid to achieve the goals of positively impacting the lives of the people of Bonny Local Government Area and changing their living standards for better, the chairman of the local government, David Irimagha says his administration would strategically integrate the youths of the community in its policy drive.

Irimagha said this today when the Bonny Youth Federation led by its leader, Simeon Wilcox, accompanied by his executives and committee chairmen, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the council secretariat in Bonny.

He noted that the challenges facing the community were enormous and varied and needs the intellectual and other strategic resources that only the youths can provide to surmount them.

He called for the cooperation and contribution of the BYF leadership to muster the needed synergy and strategies to drive the policies of his administration, which he said were geared towards improving the quality of life for the people of the area.

The Bonny LG boss, who was accompanied by his vice, Mrs. Anengi Barasua Green, and secretary to the local government council, Omoni Longjohn, expressed optimism that though lack of unity among the youths and greed were undermining efforts to address the challenges facing the community, much can still be achieved if the youths can bury their differences and forge a common front to pursue their collective agenda.

Earlier, leader of the BYF, which is the apex youth body and umbrella youth organization of Bonny Kingdom, Simeon Wilcox had congratulated the chairman for his victory at the polls and subsequent inauguration as executive chairman of the LGA.

He used the occasion to outline some of the challenges facing the community which he regretted were negatively impacting the youths of the community. He appealed to him to support the BYF in its pursuit of various approaches that would reposition the youths for growth and development.

He further lamented that the youths lacked the right orientation to leverage opportunities that would add value to their lives and also equip them adequately to contribute to the development of the community. He thanked him for accepting to grant them audience even at short notice, noting that it portrayed him as “a good father of the youths”.
