As the clamour for repairs on the collapsed bridge along Hospital Road at “Ghana woman” junction in Akiama, Bonny Local Government Area (LGA), kept gathering momentum, the local government chairman, David Irimagha has assured that the repairs would soon commence.

In his response to Kristina Reports’ enquiries about the condition of the bridge, the LG chair said his administration was on top of the matter.

Our findings reveal that Alcon Nigeria Limited has been engaged to redo the design of the bridge in order to have a more resilient and reinforced structure to replace the collapsed one.

The Bonny LG boss assured the commuting public that sooner than later the road would be put to use and would no longer constitute a death-trap to road users.

He also cautioned commuters to avoid using the bridge for their own safety as it was still unsafe and constitutes a hazard to road users.
