Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says it has arrested two persons in connection with the fire incident at the boundary between Bodo and Kpor in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.



She stated that the Police is currently carrying out an investigation into the matter, while assuring the residents of the State of their safety.
“The Rivers State Police Command has commenced a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire. In connection with this, two individuals have been taken in for questioning as part of efforts to uncover any potential act of sabotage.”
“The Command remains committed to ensuring that perpetrators of criminal activities are identified and brought to justice.”
Iringe-Koko informed that the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), operators of the Trans Niger Pipeline, was alerted by the State Police Command, when its operatives on routine night patrol observed the incident, adding that prompt action was taken to contain the situation.
“The Rivers State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that a fire incident occurred at the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) operated Trans Niger Delta Pipeline, located at the border of Kpor and Bodo communities.”
“During a routine night patrol, security operatives observed the incident and promptly alerted SPDC management.”
“The latter initiated necessary safety protocols, including shutting down the affected pipeline.”
“As a result of swift intervention, the situation is now under control, and there is no further threat to residents or the environment.”
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, at the Shell Petroleum Development Company, at the Trans Niger Delta Pipeline has caused lots of reactions and fear to the people in the area.
The Rivers State Police Command therefore urged the public to remain calm and always abiding, and always try to contact the police regarding to any suspicious activities.
“We urge residents to remain calm and vigilant, assuring them of our unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property.”
“The Command will not relent in its efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and maintain peace and security for all.”
