Having already secured a place in the Round of 16 of the U20 World Cup, the Flying Eagles will play the final game of the group stages against Brazil who hope to get maximum points to secure theirs as well.

A draw would be enough for Nigeria to finish top of the group, but a draw for the Brazilians would keep them hanging in the balance, pending the result from Italy vs Dominican Republic, which would be played at the same time.

The two-time U20 World Cup finalists, Nigeria, qualified for the Round of 16 after a 2-0 victory over Italy on Wednesday.

Nigeria arrived at the Unico Diego Maradona in La Plata on Thursday afternoon ahead of the match against Brazil scheduled for 7 pm on Saturday.

The Flying Eagles team has lost three of their past five games vs Brazil’s U-20 team, the most recent was a 4–2 loss in 2015.

Coach of the side Ladan Bosso according to Sporting Sun has charged his boys to beat Brazil, he admitted that the South American side is tactically and technically good but he is not fazed by it.

He added that his team would have all to play for to prove that the wins against the Dominican Republic and Italy were no fluke.

“For now, it is certain that we have qualified from our group with six points, and those players who have not played in the first two matches, I think we have to give them a chance to showcase themselves.”

“We would play a normal game with Brazil, and I think they are beatable. I expect an improved performance against the Brazilians,”

“For now, it is still work in progress, we are still in the tournament, we can never be satisfied yet until we play the final” Basso added.

With the Brazilians coming off a whopping 6-0 victory against the Dominican Republic and with everything to fight for, the Nigerian side would have to be at their best to make it three in three in the group stage and finish strong.
