As the New Year sets off, the Chief and Head of the Fubara Manilla Pepple Chieftaincy House of Bonny Kingdom, Se-Alabo Waripanye Valentine Pepple, Fubara XV, has charged his kinsmen to focus on adding value to society and providing the needed support to the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom to achieve the kingdom’s set objectives.
Se-Alabo Pepple, who was with his wife, Alabota Gillian Dienye Pepple, and son, Terna Pepple, gave this charge at a Reception in his honour at the Fubara Manilla Pepple Opuwari (community hall) in Bonny, Rivers State on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
This was shortly after a Thanksgiving Service same day wherein the House appreciated God Almighty on the success of his presentation and reception into the Bonny Chiefs Council (BCC), which took place on Tuesday, December 28, 2021.
He reminded members of the House that their progenitor, Prince Adum-Fubara, was the first son of the creator of the House, King Perekule I, and later ascended the King Perekule throne upon the transmigration of his father, stressing that it was incumbent on them to support the incumbent Monarch to succeed in his efforts at moving the kingdom forward.
“You know I am his first son and so the responsibility of protecting the throne naturally falls on me and you are going to support me to support him to succeed. The Fubara Manilla Pepple House is the chief protector of the throne and we are going to do that.”
Fubara XV, who had in attendance two of his colleagues in the BCC, the Chiefs and Heads of Ada-Allison House, Se-Alabo Benjamin Ada-Allision and Christy-Wilcox House, Se-Alabo Golden Christy-Wilcox, discountenanced any further legal proceedings against the King of Bonny from members of the House, assuring that any misgivings would be addressed in-house.
In furtherance of this, Se-Alabo Waripanye Valentine Pepple announced that a reconciliation committee would be set up to reconcile members of the House and address grievances and ongoing concerns within the House, tasking them to also “see yourself, and I mean every member of this House, as reconciliators. Let’s find and reconcile our brothers and sisters”.
“First thing to do is reconciliation drive, though we won’t be forcing anyone but we shall find a way to reconcile everyone. Every member of this great House is a member of the extended reconciliation committee. Let us throw away acrimony and work for the progress of House.”
He urged the youths of the House to eschew social vices such as cultism, drug abuse and violence, calling on them to embrace the opportunities the House would be availing them for their personal wellbeing and economic development, stressing that “we all have roles to play in moving this great House forward”.
Earlier, the Chief and Head of Christy-Wilcox House, Se-Alabo Golden Christy-Wilcox had congratulated his colleague for the success of his installation as Chief and Head of the Fubara Manilla Pepple House and subsequent presentation to the Bonny Chiefs Council, noting that it was a testament to his invaluable leadership qualities.
Expressing appreciation to the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Dr Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, JP, Perekule XI, for taking definite steps to restore the House to the path of progress, Se-Alabo Christy-Wilcox appealed to members of the Fubara Manilla Pepple House to give their Chief the necessary support to reposition the House and achieve set objectives
In attendance at the Reception were the former Chairman of the House, Hon. Sunju Bluejack, Secretary, Valentine Pepple, a former Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Bonny LGA, Charles Jumbo, amongst others.
