Governors of South-West geopolitical region of Nigeria comprising Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, and Ogun States have vowed to tackle the scourge of insecurity in the region.
Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos, Rotimi Akeredolu, Ondo, Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti, Dapo Abiodun, Ogun, Gboyega Oyetola, Osun, and Seyi Makinde of Oyo States took this decision on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at a regional Stakeholders’ Security Summit held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Stakeholders’ Security Summit was organized by the Development Agenda of Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission established to focus on achieving a viable socio-economic integration in the region.
Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, Rotimi Akeredolu affirmed that Governors of the region will put aside party affiliations and work towards achieving a safer South West.
In his words, “This meeting has become exigent considering the spate of insecurity in the country. The anxiety of our people is palpable. The growing fear among the populace makes nonsense of any plans conceived for the development of our God-given space”.
Governor Akeredolu buttressed that no amount of sacrifice from the Governors will be too much in securing the safety of its people.
