As seafarers travel and engage in maritime activities thousands of nautical miles away from home countries and families, the social media has been of great help in connecting them to their families and friends.
National Coordinator of the Nigeria Fellowship of Christian Seafarers (NFCS), Pastor Joshua Oyetunde disclosed this on Friday, May 3, 2019 when he led the leadership of the organization on a visit to the Rivers Port complex at the Basket House in Port Harcourt.
According to the leader of the Christian seafarers fellowship, through social media the body, which was formed in 2017, has been able to sustain its contact with its over 150 members in different ship and sea going vessels.
He noted that the visit is part of activities to observe the 2nd Annual Conference of the Fellowship which held between 1st and 3rd of May, 2019, in Port Harcourt.
Oyetunde further revealed that the Fellowship has helped in providing safety, succour and moulded the lifestyle of members and their families on-board seagoing vessels on the waterways.
In his response, the Manager, Rivers Port Complex, Mallam Abubakar Garuba Umar, represented by Engr. Uche Okoroafor, promised to support the Nigeria Fellowship of Christian Seafarers to enable them continue to render more invaluable services to both serving and retired seafarers and their families in Nigeria.
