Apparently, to spite his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, on Wednesday, Wike urged President Muhammadu Buhari to use his victory to work for all Nigerians, irrespective of their political leanings

Governor Wike called on the President to work towards the unity of the country, noting that the country is divided.

Wike’s party, the PDP had vowed to challenge the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal at the Supreme Court.

The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan asserted that the judgment was defective and would not stand.

It appears Wike was reacting to the defeat of his candidate for the PDP presidential ticket, Aminu Tambuwal at its National Convention in Port Harcourt.

Reports have it that Atiku allegedly outspent Wike in the dollar rain that reportedly characterised that convention.
