Nigerian street hop artist, Portable, is once again using his internet fame to release new music.
The singer, who is known for staying in the news for his music and antics, has announced a new EP titled The Chosen, inspired by the viral social media trend of the same name.
The viral trend began with members of the Nigerian Pentecostal Church, Chosen Revival Ministries, sharing testimonies of miracles.
Their incredible stories, paired with the church’s signature brightly coloured bibs, quickly caught the attention of social media users.
The clips sparked a wave of exaggerated and comedic testimonies shared by social media users and content creators.
Portable, ever the opportunist, has now decided to ride the viral wave with his new EP.
According to the singer, the project is aimed at soundtracking the trend, with the album cover showing him wearing the famous bib associated with the church.
The release of The Chosen follows Portable’s recent pattern of using viral moments to release music.
In 2023, he dropped the track I Am Not A Prisoner after spending time in jail for assaulting police officers executing a court warrant at his residence.
In 2024, Portable also released Brotherhood, a diss track directed at socialite Bobrisky, following a dispute between the two.
The controversial singer later released Spiderman after he was caught on video jumping a fence to avoid arrest for failing to pay the remaining balance on his G Wagon Brabus.
With The Chosen, Portable continues to use his signature approach of turning viral moments into music, maintaining his place in the spotlight.
